Mt Buller Race Club was formed in 1987 for the benefit of young ski and snowboard athletes at Mt Buller, Victoria, Australia. The club has quickly progressed to being one of Australia’s leading ski and snowboard clubs, coaching and developing many athletes who have
successfully competed domestically and on the world stage, as well as enabling coaching careers for those who choose this pathway.

The Role
Working closely with the club General Manager and Technical Committee, the Technical Director will join the leadership team and be instrumental in further developing and implementing a world-class, high-performance program for our athletes.
The role has 4 direct reports & is responsible for leading, supporting and developing the Head Coaches for each program stream. To support the management of the clubs members and coaches, the position will have a 60% on snow focus & 40% off snow focus.
Responsibilities
MBRC Focus
● Work closely with the Club GM as part of the leadership team to deliver a world class performance program.
● Have detailed knowledge of the MBRC strategic plan including its 4 pillars and work closely with the Club GM to deliver strategic outcomes for the club.
● Understand, reflect and drive the MBRC Mission, Vision and Values.
● Attend relevant stakeholder meetings including with program partners and resort management.
● Design, manage and run MBRC races including scheduling of duties. Overseeing race day team and communication with coaches and volunteers.
● Equipment management and reports; Logistics, repair and loss and requirements for annual replacement .
● Perform administrative duties for the club as and when required.
● Adhere to and monitor all MBRC policies and procedures and codes of conduct and ensure both coaches and athletes are aware of these.
● Venue management during training sessions - coach positioning, radio use and protocols.
● Work with designers, groomers and coaches to keep proper maintenance of course and developing course and features.
● Maintain strong relationships and work in collaboration with BSL and Snow Australia.
● Sound understanding of the FIS rules.
● Develop Northern Hemisphere Race Training Program planning, options & costings.
Athlete Focus
● Develop and assist in the management the MBRC high performance & development programs, both on and off snow.
● Develop training plans for athletes that are refined on skills assessments.
● Set athletes goals and objectives for Buller, Northern Hemisphere and off snow training.
● Communicate athlete pathways with parents and athletes.
● Where required co-ordinate MBRC members and attend race events hosted by other mountains.
● Athlete talent identification and management - ETP, Watch List and Skills
Assessment
● Work with coaches to ensure athletes are provided athlete reports.
● Knowledge and understanding of Snow Australia pathways for elite athletes and work with Snow Australia for elite athlete transition to Snow Australia.
Coach Focus
● Lead, develop & train coaching staff.
● Set coaching objectives and timetable for the Mt Buller season.
● Mid and post season review of coaches identifying areas for program improvement.
● Provide and promote a safe and inclusive working environment for all coaches and athletes.
● Report all serious on or off snow incidents to the Club GM including athlete injury, behavioural concerns or misconduct.
● Ensuring coaches within the program completely understand their responsibilities and roles
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in a similar or equivalent position.
• Strong leadership capability.
• Proven results in athlete development and performance outcomes.
• Organisational and time management skills.
• Experience in reporting.
• Experience in Revolutionise Sport or equivalent athlete management program.
• Skills in Microsoft Office programs.
• Sound understanding of the FIS rules.
