We are recruiting a Surf Camp Manager to be based in Swakopmund, Namibia. The surf camp is in the town centre, 5 minutes’ walk from the beach and 15 min walk from the dunes. Our surf camp manager welcomes an average of 30 guests per week, supervises a team of 7 employees and works closely with the surf school team to ease surf related activities. The Essentials Experience managing surf camps/surf schools/surf retreats (surf school + accommodation property) Dates: Feb 2025 (for 5-6 months) July 2025 (for 5-6 months) 1/2-year contracts also possible Languages: Fluent English and at least one more language such as German, French or Spanish. Minimum age: 26 years Excellent computer skills with experience using Google Drive and Excel/Spreadsheets/Numbers EU drivers licence Valid 1st Aid Certificate ISA qualification (desirable) Key Characteristics: Natural leader, Very hard-working, Great people skills, Delegates efficiently. Overview: The job will be managing & supervising all operations, implementing new processes where necessary, bookkeeping, marketing and assisting the owners with everything necessary. Above all, we are looking for somebody who wants to embrace the salty jackal way of life: surfing, sustainable living and extraordinary food. We believe there are many ways of developing skills so even if you don’t “tick all the boxes” but think you’d thrive in this role, we would like to learn more about you. You are the main responsible for the surf camp. It is your responsibility to ensure that the surf camp is fully functioning and that all the staff have the right tools to perform their daily tasks to the best of their ability. As a successful Surf Camp Manager you will guarantee the smooth operation of the camp; comfortably handling day-to-day challenges, naturally thinking on your feet, acting promptly when urgent issues arise and encouraging outstanding work ethic and team-spirit. Responsibilities: Manage guests’ whole experience from check in to check out, making sure guests are having the time of their life Organise and understand all arrival and departure information, manage the guests’ check-in and check-outs, monitor guest’s bookings, including surf levels information and liaise with the surf instructor Support and implement the marketing strategy by collecting content from the team and coordinating the daily content creation Manage billing and online payments Manage finances by counting incoming cash and solve any discrepancy that might arise with the petty cash Manage emails, enquiries and booking channels Control the rental of surf equipment Attend sign-up dinners organised by the staff Socialize with guests and help them book surf activities/ yoga/ other activities around Swakopmund Socialize with guests to gauge their customer satisfaction levels and address any concerns before they develop into complaints Manage complaints politely and report to the owners for support Train, guide, support and manage the team Maintain and push the quality of services provided at the surf camp Prepare monthly payroll for the team, utilising the reward system Coordinate, monitor and follow up the daily schedule of the staff, including the surf activities and non-surf activities Maintain staff morale and organising staff events to boost spirits Gather, review and summarise weekly feedback forms into a weekly report Host weekly meetings with the team as well as the owners Adapt to unforeseen circumstances, coming up with solutions and jumping in where needed Overseeing the running maintenance at the surf camp throughout the year The Benefits 2-3 week training with the direct support of the owners Support from the owners and the office team throughout the year Namibian working contract Monthly salary and paid leave according to Namibian labour law Breakfast Private apartment Staff discount on day trips, honesty bar and dinners Free use of the surf and yoga equipment and the possibility to join the surf lessons/ guiding (subject to availability)
