If you’re seeking powder and not chasing the party scene, Lake Louise is definitely a great option for you.
Let’s start with the mountain. It’s big. 4200 acres big, which is enough to keep you entertained all season.
There’s 11 lifts, four faces, and 991m of vert. 25% beginner 45% intermediate and 30% expert. Much of the expert terrain requires a bit of work to get to so it stays fresh longer.
The mountain has a frontside and backside so finding something soft, either powder or corn snow is pretty easy at Lake Mountain.
And the views are absolutely stunning, arguably the best in Canada.
Lake Louise has two major employers, the ski hill which part of the Big 3 group (Lake Louise, Mt Norquay and Sunshine) and the fabulous 539 room luxury Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. There’s also a few other smaller employers such as bars, lodges, and ski shops in town.
Lake Louise is pretty remote 57km from Banff and the two big employers have good accommodation options in town. Housing is basic but affordable for the Lake Louise Resort and you can choose a style to suit your taste and budget. There’s dorms, single rooms or units. Expect to pay between 20-40% of your wage to cover your accommodation costs.
The Fairmont Lake Louise sets the standard for employee housing. They are comfortable and many units have million dollar views.
So in summary, Lake Louise is very user friendly for seasonal workers. The mountain is amazing, but don’t expect to party like a rock star in this town.
UPDATE July 2023: Sadly a 200 person employee housing complex burnt down in July 2023. While there were no injuries in the arson attack, this will make things extremely hard for Lake Louise in for the next few seasons.
