Guess which mountain has the biggest vertical drop in North America?
That’s right, it’s Revelstoke Mountain Resort with 1713m of vert.
3121 acres and 10.5m of snow a year make Revelstoke a world class mountain. There’s not a lot of beginner terrain, but there’s 4 bowls and no shortage of steep big mountain expert slopes.
Revelstoke Mountain Resort is a young mountain opening up in 2007 and it’s also a genuine 4 seasons resort.
There’s lift serviced mountain biking, Alpine coasters, hiking, and range of social and sporting events over the winter and summer.
The town of Revelstoke (10km away) also has plenty of seasonal and year round opportunities for workers.
Raft guides can work on the Illecillewaet, there’s no shortage of climbing in town, and you can event play cricket for the Revelstoke Cricket Club.
Revelstoke Mountain Resort is setting the standard for employee housing.
This is the huge new employee housing complex which is going to partially open this summer.
The new staff housing: is located at the base of the resort.
Phase 1 of a 3 phase build is set for occupancy June 2025. There’s 160 Bed Units per building in 24 One-Bedroom Units and 68 Two-Bedroom Units.
These are major project that are ongoing. They should also free up some more options for ski workers housing in the town of Revelstoke. If you don’t have a car, don’t worry, you can take a $2 shuttle from the town to the resort.
With so much building work going on, Revelstoke is a good place to be if you are a construction worker. A smart plan is to get into Revelstoke early, bang some nails over the summer and fall, earn some decent money, and then have an epic winter.
Please note, Revelstoke isn’t Whistler. The town’s motto is “Legendary Powder. Big Mountain Terrain. Small Town Charm.” If you want to go clubbing every night, it may not be the place for you.
