Hi Adventurers,
In late March we Matt and I hosted a Q and A session about working an Australian ski season.
We don’t have the soaring mountains like they do in Europe and North America. We don’t have the powder like Japan but you can have a fun time working an Australian ski season.
You can also lose a lot of money if you make bad choices, so check out the recording of the Q and A session.
Here are some of the links we reference in the discussion.
Visa information. Please note hospitality work in the ski resorts DOES NOT COUNT towards your 88 Days. Construction work does, so does farm work in the valleys below the resorts, but hospo work defintiely does not count. See

Don’t get exploited. Know your pay rates, overtime rates, penalty rates and where to go if you are getting ripped off. See the Fair Work Australia website. https://www.fairwork.gov.au
If you need to get ski gear, there’s plenty of stuff for sale at the start of the ski season. Check Facebook Marketplace or these community sales fairs just before the lifts open.

If this blog post has helped you out, please consider creating a free employee profile on this site. You can set up new job alerts for resort and job combinations you are interested in. You can also send profiles to employers via their ads on the jobs board.
Employers can browse the database and get in touch with offers if they like the look of your profile.
A SEE YOU NEXT SEASON staff member will also look through your profile and let you know if there are good options for you, or if you are making expensive rookie errors.
Yours in Adventure
Iain and Matt.
