How to recruit seasonal employees on working holiday visas

Matt and I spend a lot of time helping seasonal workers better prepare for their big working holiday adventure. We help them with advice about accommodation. We show them how to improve their job application and interview skills, and we send them links to suitable jobs. Matt and I will also spot rookie errors seasonal workers are making and help them avoid costly mistakes.

Now it’s the adventure industry’s turn.

This podcast unpacks why young people go on working holidays. It discusses their demographics, their dreams, and the best way to attract them to your organisation.

We look at great job ads and terrible job ads. We also discuss how to improve employer’s recruiting tactics so they can hiring more seasonal workers on working holiday visas. Hint: it’s not about your company, it’s about the destination and their dreams.

Young people on working holiday visas are extremely mobile and motivated. They will travel half way around the world for the right job. Employers who understand the dreams of seasonal workers, and can make them happen, will find staff in a tight labour market. And those young people who have a great time working for an organisation, certainly like telling their friends about their experiences.
